I think a lot of times people misunderstand what a soul mate is and then get discouraged when they “don’t find” that person.
The truth is that person could be right in front of you or long gone.
A soul mate can be your best friend, your sister, your brother, your mother, your grandmother, your father, your uncle, your dentist, your teacher.
A soul mate isn’t always going to be that person you want to bump uglies with for the rest of your life, and a soul mate is not defined by how short or long they are in your life. Soul mate does not automatically equal “lover”.
I think that this is one of the main reasons people walking around whining about how they haven’t found their soul mate, because they think that the definition of a soul mate is the person you marry and have kids, and share a life with. Sorry to burst your bubble but that’s not always the case.
Yes a soul mate can be a lover, husband, friend, but if you confuse finding your soul mate with finding mr or mrs right you’re going to be in for a big ole bag of disappointment. You can be in love with, and share a life with, someone who is NOT your soul mate.
You can have more than one soul mate, and as I said above, it could be anyone or more than one. You can have a soul mate that’s only around for a few days, months, or years, or for decades. Some come and go, some stick around.
As for love, and lovers, yes of course you can meet that somebody and they will be your everything. But they may not be your soul mate, and you may not meet that “companion” in this lifetime for whatever reason.
A soul mate and that perfect match romantically speaking can be two different things entirely. Or the same thing. Just don’t get discouraged if you get one and not the other. Such is life.
